Clean Water Platform
As our district’s State Representative, I will support:
a “Clean Water Bill” to fund projects that improve the quality of both the ground water and waterways in our state.
A requirement that all homes leased or sold in our state that have a private well include a water test conducted within the last calendar year.
the establishment of public water districts in areas that have already suffered significant groundwater contamination and are close to established public water systems, such as Ellendale and the Collins & Russell development in Milton
involving the University of Delaware in the research of the best agricultural practices for our area, Such as Peak fertilization time, best crops for up cycling nitrates that are suitable for our area, and waste management.
funding and staffing state agencies to levels necessary for them to carry out needed oversight and enforcement of all regulations that protect our water quality, including an increase in the cost of NPDES permits, a permit fee that has not increased since 1991.
Increasing grants available to area farmers to improve & encourage environmentally responsible agriculture.
the state’s repeat offender program, to ensure that chronic polluters of our water are held responsible.
Requiring that all septic and similar wastes are ran through a municipal-style sewage treatment facility rather than being treated and sprayed on area fields.
