About Don

Hello! I'm Donald Allan, Jr. I was born and raised here in Delaware. I live in Milton with my wife of five years, Carrie. We have a beautiful 3-year-old daughter, Josie.

I was born into a blue collar family. My grandfather was an autoworker at the Chrysler plant in Newark, Delaware until the day he passed away. My father has been in the construction industry since he was 18. My family is full of firefighters, nursing assistants, road workers, fishermen, and stay-at-home moms.

Like my grandfather and father, I work in a blue collar job. I'm a carpenter. I’ve been a carpenter since I was 12 years old, when I started working weekends and summers with my Dad. My day-to-day job spans everything from sweeping floors to installing kitchen cabinets, to managing large-scale housing projects. I know what it's like to come home every day with bruised knuckles and aching feet.

I believe that when the middle class prospers, America prospers. I am running for office to ensure that our state supports our middle class. For too long, America has catered to corporations and the wealthy. We need to reinvest in the middle class: ensuring that we have access to affordable health care; creating middle class jobs by investing in our infrastructure; ensuring that our children have as many opportunities as I did growing up.

I also believe we need to ensure that every Delaware family has access to clean, safe drinking water. When corporate greed endangers public health—when our faucets run with dirty, polluted water—that threatens my family and yours. We have a responsibility to protect our children's health. Politicians should stop listening to their corporate donors and do what's right.

As I get out and meet many of you, I hope you'll see my passion for these issues. I promise all residents of District 36 two things: I will work hard and I will listen to you.

If you have a concern not mentioned on this website, please don't hesitate to reach out and talk to me. We can fix the problems in our state, and our country, when we start listening to each other.

So, please come to one of our events, email me from this page, and check us out on Twitter and Facebook. It's my goal to speak to every voter in our district.
